What We Believe

What we believe

  1. We believe in one God who is Father, the Divine Son Jesus Christ who is Lord, and the Holy Spirit who is Counsellor (Helper), all of whom exist eternally within a Triune relationship (Dt 6:4; Mt 28:18; Jn 1:1-3, 18; 14:26; 15:26; 16:5-15; Ac 5:3-4; 1Co 8:6; 12:7, 13; 15:20-28; Eph 4:4-6; 1Ti 2:5).
  2. We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ in whom the fullness of God dwells, revealed in human form, and we believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles and His atoning death. (Isa 7:14; Mt 1:22-23; Lk 1: 26-38; Jn 10:17-18; Ac 20:28; Ro 3:24-26; 2Co 5:21; Col 2:9 Heb 2:17; 4:15; 1Pe 2:22; 3:18; 1Jn 3:5; 4:10; Rev 1:5).
  3. We believe that God’s Word (written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek) as we have in the Bible is divinely inspired, and therefore, is infallible and entirely trustworthy, and is the authority in all matters of faith and conduct (Jn 17:17; 1Co 14:37; 2Ti 3:16-17; Heb 4:12; 2Pe 1:20-21; 3:2). Translations into English (and other languages) for the most part are faithful witnesses.
  4. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, in His personal return to consummate God’s Kingdom, and in God’s judgment of the world (Jn 10:17-18; Ro 3:24-26; 2Co 5:21; Col 1:15-20; 1Pe 3:18; 1Jn 3:5; 4:10).
  5. We believe that the sin of Adam is imputed to all people (Ro 5:12; 1Co 15:21-22), and subsequently it is in fallen human nature to sin, and consequently all have sinned and are, therefore, separated from God the Father which leads to death and eternal punishment (Mk 7:20-23; Jn 3:1-21; Ro 3:9-23; Eph 2:1-7; Tit 3:5-7).
  6. We believe that redemption from the penalty and the power of sin is possible only through Jesus’ blood, as a result of His death and subsequent resurrection, and is wholly the work of God, the Father’s free grace granted to those who put their faith in Christ alone (Mt 1:21; Jn 14:6; Ac 4:12; 10:43; 20:21; Ro 3:21-26; 5:8; 6:23; 9:30-33; 10:9; Gal 3:11, 14, 22-24; Eph 1:7-8; 2:8-9; 1Ti 2:5; Heb 2:9; 10:19; 1Jn 1:7).
  7. We believe in the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective for individual sinners, granting them repentance towards God and enabling faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and to counsel believers to live holy lives by means of the development of the fruit of the Spirit and to witness and serve Christ by means of the gifts of the Spirit (Jn 3:5-8; 14:17; 16:7-15; Ro 8:2-4, 9; 12:6-8; 1Cor 2:14; 6:19; 14:1; Gal 3:23; 5:22-23 Eph 1:13-14; 4:30 Tit 3:5; Heb 2:4; 2Pe 1:5-8).
  8. We believe in the resurrection of all people, leading to eternal blessing for believers and eternal punishment for unbelievers (Mt 13:40-43; Lk 16:19-21; 23:39-43; Jn 5:23-29; 1Co 15:12-58; 2Co 5:8; Phil 1:23-24; 3:21; 1Th 4:13-18; 1Pe 4:6; 1Jn 3:2; Rev 20:10).
  9. We believe that every believer is baptised into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, and is responsible for keeping unity of the Spirit by loving one another with a pure heart (Jn 13:34-35; 17:21; Ro 15:5; Eph 1:13-14; 4:3-6, 13; Col 3:12-14; Tit 3:4-8; 1Jn 3:11, 16; 4:7-8).
  10. We believe God instructs His people to assemble together regularly for worship, participation in ordinances (water baptism and the Lord’s Supper), edification through the Scriptures and for mutual encouragement (Ac 2:42; 20:7; 1Co 12:20-28; 16:1-2; Eph 4:11-16; 1Ti 4:13; 2Ti 3:16; 4:2; Heb 10:21-25).
  11. We believe the Lord Jesus commanded all believers to proclaim the gospel throughout the world and to disciple people of every nation (people group) (Mt 28:18-20; Mk 16:15-16; Lk 24:46-49; Ac 1:7-8; Ro 12:1-2; Gal 2:19-20; Phil 3:7-21).
